5 Mile Firecracker!

Well folks, we did it! We ran 5 miles as a family on July 3rd in the Ephrata Firecracker. It was perfect weather and we took the run slow, but steady. We started in the back and slowly picked up our pace so that we weren't the last ones through the finish line, although we were pretty close. Over 500 people ran and i think we finished four-hundred eighty-something....
For the record, the paper says I finished 5 people after Stephen. I can say with certainty that papers don't print absolute truth. Stephen and I crossed the finish line together holding hands and no one was very close in front of us or behind us. So how did we end up 5 people apart in the paper? In any case, I have to hand it to my husband who ran double the amount he has ever run in his entire life. AND...he bought a new pair of running shoes because in the course of training (a whole 4 days of prep running) and the actual race, Stephen has realized he does feel better after running. I told him that if he is going to start to run regularly, he needs to buy new shoes to take care of his feet. A visit to Secret Sneaker later, we have a new pair of running shoes. We also found a pair of running shoes for King (see pics below) So we may have a new family sport ladies and gentlemen!

In other news, Spain is moving on to the finals in World Cup sunday. We watched the quarterfinal game with all the kiddos and their 88 year-old great-grandmother.
-We sold our couch this week. Stephen actually sold it for $25 more than we bought it for 3 years ago. We were so sad. It was definitely a death. And now it is depressing to walk into our house. But, due to the heat wave, we spend most of our time upstairs in the bedrooms where we have AC.
-Stephen picked up our visas today. They are now safely in our passports. Visas + Possible apartment option (supercute, close to school, inexpensive, updated, and terrace view of snow-capped mountains)= Soon on our way to Granada!!! Scary and exciting.

Before the race...

We made it! 53 minutes and some seconds
